  • Mursley - Year 2

Welcome to Year 2 at Mursley C of E School. We enjoy an exciting curriculum taught by Mrs Meichtry (Mon-Wed) and Mr Thorp (Thur-Fri), who are joined by our Teaching Assistants Mrs Clubb (Mondays and Tuesdays) and Mrs Knaves (Wednesdays and Thursdays).

From researching powerful voices in History, discovering the human body in Science and meeting real-life authors in our English lessons, we engage in hands-on learning. This is supported through our range of educational visits where we visit a Roman city, explore a Tudor palace and enjoy the theatre, amongst other things.

We have close links to Waddesdon Manor, a National Trust property where we develop our scientific understanding of plants in the grounds. During our fortnightly visits to forest school, we also have the opportunity to explore nature, build dens, look at different animals and their habitats and enjoy a hot chocolate to keep warm!

Children in Year 2 have the opportunity to join a variety of after-school clubs. They receive weekly PE teaching from Mr Thorp and half a term of swimming teaching from Mrs Hill.

During the summer term there is a focus on transition, to prepare the children for their move to a new school. Most of the children will move to Swanbourne C of E School, which is also part of The Three Schools.

In Year 2 we love to learn through getting involved, sharing and respecting each other’s ideas and having fun. We have high expectations with regards to respect for ourselves and others, as well as for trying our best. The children can earn reward stickers for demonstrating the school values or going 'above and beyond' and will be rewarded with a Shine Certificate at the end of each term for something they have done that the adults have been impressed by.

In summary, Year 2 is an amazing place to be!
