Mursley - EYFS
The Foundation Class at Mursley is full of happy, busy learners who thrive through a mix of play-based learning with adult led activities and challenges. Mrs Towse, along with Mrs Rouse and Mrs Craig support the children during this special first year at school.
The classroom itself is stimulating and fun as well as being the setting for our daily phonics and maths sessions. The activities are carefully planned so as to reflect real life experiences and we are so lucky to have access to a minibus to get out and about to support this. Previous visits have included MK gym, the Fire station, College Lake, local farms as well as the supermarket to purchase cooking supplies and the post office more locally.
The children access Forest School weekly but have daily use of our wonderful Foundation Garden area, which is full of fun learning through play opportunities. High quality texts, stories and rhyme feature in much of what we do, encouraging language, creativity and a love of books in all children.
Mursley Monkey is a valued member of our class and he enjoys his weekends spent with each child in turn, recording what he gets up to in his special journal.
Collaboration with parents and carers is crucial and we involve them as much as possible. They are regularly invited to class to share in children’s successes and achievements. The children are very excited to welcome a “mystery reader” adult to come in a share a story with them. Our planning is also a shared process and our “Wishes” board invites wishes for classroom activities. Our “Stars” celebrate the achievements the children have made outside of school
