Swanbourne - Year 5
Welcome to Year 5 where we like to learn and work hard, whilst having fun in the process. Mrs Fisher is our class teacher (Mon, Wed- Fri) Mrs Featherston (Tuesday) and Mrs Grimes and Mrs Lea support our learning.
In our class we enjoy the challenge of learning new things and trying hard to improve our work, always thinking about whether it is the best we can do, working hard to remember the importance of perseverance and developing our growth mindset. We understand that whilst we are learning that it is okay to get things wrong - and to try things again. We work hard and know that sometimes we need to try things several times to get it right.
We look forward to special days and trips out. We have visits to support our learning in history: a workshop day and trips out to museums as well as events like book week, visits from an author and science days to name a few.
We enjoy studying some really exciting topics across the curriculum, these include: The Greeks, The Victorians and World War 1 & 11, Earth in Space and Australia.
In our class we enjoy making links across the subjects as well as within subjects – everything links to something else.
We are very lucky in Year 5 to all have the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument. All children play either a cornet, trombone or euphonium with our amazing brass teacher. The children also benefit enormously from the continued work with our specialist art and DT teacher, Miss J to produce some amazing work.
Year 5 is: Engaging, Challenging and Caring.
