Year 5 Pupils Rise to the Cyber Challenge
Fri 11 Jul 2025Year 5 recently took part in a Cyber Challenge organised by the Beds, Bucks and Northants branch of the British Computer Society.
For the Year 5 category, the pupils had to use their coding skills to create an online safety resource. We had a wonderful selection of quizzes, games and even animations accompanied by raps!
Three of the successful entrants were invited to a prize presentation at Cranfield University on Thursday. This was a wonderful opportunity to share what we had come up with as well as see what other schools had created and get some inspiration for any future coding endeavours.
We were also able to look around one of the aircraft that the university uses as part of their Digital Aviation Laboratories.
All of Year 5 had worked incredibly hard and the quiz produced and coded by Alex, Ishantha and Oliver came 3rd overall in the Year 5 category. Well done everyone!

Youngsters take their first swing at cricket
Fri 11 Jul 2025The children at Swanbourne recently had the chance to try out cricket, which for many of them was a first.
Following an introductory assembly, each class spent an hour with Emily, a cricket development coach for Bucks Cricket. She led them through a series of different activities that used batting, bowling and fielding skills.
The children loved the experience, with many asking where they could go to play more cricket. Thanks to the staff for adjusting their timetables to fit in this opportunity. All we need now is to go and collect all of the balls that were hit over the fence!!!
