Fantastic Sporting Prowess from Swanbourne
Thu 19 Mar 2026It has been a busy and successful period of sport for Swanbourne pupils, with children across Key Stage 2 representing the school with determination, resilience and great team spirit.
We kicked things off with the return of the Thornton Trail, which, for the second year running, had to be postponed from the Autumn term due to poor weather. Undeterred, 12 of our runners took on the challenge, forming three teams across Years 3–6. Competing in large, highly competitive races, our pupils rose to the occasion—tackling the demanding course, managing their nerves and performing brilliantly throughout. Just as importantly, they demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, continuing to build Swanbourne’s reputation as both competitive and respectful.
Cross-country continued to test our runners at the Swanbourne Chase, held at Swanbourne House School. This long-standing inter-school event proved especially tough, with heavy rain, slippery conditions and an extended 2.4-mile course. Despite the challenging circumstances—and the fact that not all competitors were able to finish—our team showed real grit and determination, with every Swanbourne runner battling through to complete their race.
Meanwhile, 12 pupils from across KS2 travelled to Stoke Mandeville Stadium for the Buckinghamshire Gymnastics Festival. Competing against 15 schools, pupils performed two routines and showcased their skills on the vault. It was a fun, energetic day, and our pupils truly shone—supporting one another, performing with confidence and representing the school with impeccable manners.
Across all events, our pupils have shown resilience, teamwork and a fantastic attitude—making us incredibly proud and setting a strong foundation for future sporting success.

Year 6 Take Part in Hazard Alley Knife Crime Workshop
Thu 19 Mar 2026On Wednesday 11th February, our Year 6 pupils took part in an engaging Knife Crime Intervention workshop delivered by the Hazard Alley Safety Centre, thanks to funding from the Heart of Bucks Community Foundation.
We were delighted to be offered this opportunity for a second year, as part of the programme available to schools in our area.
Pupils explored the serious impact of knife crime in an age-appropriate and thought-provoking way. The workshop focused on how everyday choices can shape futures—not just for individuals, but for their friends, families, and the wider community.
Through quizzes, discussions, and real-life scenarios, pupils learned about:
- The risks and legal consequences of carrying a knife
- How peer pressure can influence decisions
- The importance of making safe, informed choices
- Where to seek help and support
A really interesting and thought provoking session - and our Year 6's received wonderful feedback from Education Officer who ran the course. Well done Year 6!
