Our Courageous Advocates visit the MK Foodbank
Thu 28 Nov 2024On Wednesday 6th November the Courageous Advocates Team (CAT Team) visited the MK Foodbank to help us to learn more about the fantastic work that they do within the local community.
It was a truly eye-opening experience for us all to discover the scale of support that this amazing charity offers to people in need. It got us thinking about how we can extend our support to this charity as a school beyond our Harvest donations. As always, the children were a credit to the school and they were highly commended on their intelligent questioning and their behaviour throughout. Brilliant work Courageous Advocates!

Thu 07 Nov 2024On Monday 25th November we are inviting parents and children (who are due to start school in September 2025) to come and enjoy a Stay and Play at our wonderful village school, to see what our Foundation Stage children do, and join in the fun.
A great opportunity for anyone unfamiliar with our school to come and see what we're all about.
There is no obligation to apply to our school, but this is a wonderful opportunity to share the first steps of starting school with your son or daughter.
Please email office@draytonparslow.bucks.sch.uk or call 01296 720306 to book your place. We just need your name, your child's name and their current pre-school or nursery setting.

Fierce competition in House Orienteering
Thu 07 Nov 2024On Thursday 24th October, the children at Swanbourne took part in the inaugural House Orienteering competition. This involved the children working as a team, using a map to find specific locations and collect information from each one. This was in the form of a series of letters, which then had to be unscrambled to make a word.
The children in Years 5 and Year 6 went first and took part with great enthusiasm. Everyone took their part and the competition was fierce. The children in Years 3 and Year 4 followed with an equal level of excitement. Despite having the Sports Captains assisting, some of them found it challenging to reach the right location, but the perseverance on display was brilliant to see.
For each event the winning house scored 10 points, with subsequent finishers scoring 8, 6 and 4. After both events two of the teams had 18 points, which meant that it was necessary to look at the accuracy of the teams' work. The team that made the fewest number of errors and are therefore crowned House Orienteering Champions for 2024 are Elizabeth House. Well done to Elizabeth House, but also well done to everyone for taking part with such energy and enthusiasm.

Junior Leadership Team update
Thu 07 Nov 2024Over the past few weeks the children in Year 6 had the opportunity to apply for a position in the Junior Leadership Team (JLT). This involved a rigorous process, where the children had to complete a formal application form and undertook an interview.
Following this, seven children have been appointed as members of the JLT for this academic year - congratulations to them!
Well done to all the other candidates who went through the process and should be proud of themselves. We hope that the experience has been beneficial for all of the children who took part.

Election Fever hits Swanbourne
Wed 02 Oct 2024Once again, Year 6 pupils have had the opportunity to put themselves forward as a candidate for House Captain, Vice House Captain, Sports Captain and Vice Sports Captain. The aim is that the children taking these roles will be ambassadors for our school. They will work alongside the Junior Leadership Team (JLT) and staff to represent the school, on a day to day basis and at events we attend.
The children in Year 6 were all given the opportunity to stand for these roles and we had several willing candidates who put themselves forward, each presented a speech to the KS2 children as to why they would be the best person for the job. They all spoke with confidence and enthusiasm and presented a strong argument as to why they should be selected. Each of the KS2 children then had a vote for House Captain and Sports Captain and the staff all voted as well.
The votes were very close, and we were extremely proud of all the children who put themselves forward, they showed great courage and resilience. Well done Year 6. -
