  • Busy Bees visit EYFS

    Tue 18 Jul 2023

On Tuesday 11th July, Drayton Parslow and Mursley EYFS classes were visited by the ladies from the North Bucks Beekeepers association.

After learning all about how bees help pollenate our plants, and how they communicate by doing a Waggle Dance the children had the opportunity to visit different stalls to find out more.

There was honey tasting, a chance to examine bees closely under magnifying glasses and to see the bees in their hive. Thank you to our visitors for bringing our learning about minibeasts and lifecycles to life.

  • 'Pick Your Own’ Fun for EYFS

    Tue 11 Jul 2023

Mursley and Drayton Parslow EYFS classes spent a wonderful morning picking strawberries at Grove Pick Your Own Farm.

After carefully selecting the juiciest strawberries they took them back to the classroom where they weighed them, created some fantastic baskets to put them in, then sold them to their grown-ups at the end of the day.
There might have been a few sampled along the way too!

  • Year 1 visit Claydon House

    Tue 04 Jul 2023

On Wednesday 28th June, Year 1 pupils from Drayton Parslow and Mursley went to Claydon House to learn more about the life of Florence Nightingale and the Crimean war.

We learnt about the dedication that Florence showed to wounded soldiers at the hospital in Scutari who had bravely fought. We roleplayed soldiers and nurses at the hospital and also learnt more about what life was like as a British soldier fighting abroad.

Claydon House is where Florence's sister Parthenope lived with her husband and we were able to see her bedroom where she stayed and even a small lock of her hair! It was a fun-filled learning experience for all!

  • EYFS create their own Bog Babies

    Mon 12 Jun 2023

Mursley Foundation class have recently been busy thinking about the book Bog Baby. They designed their very own Bog Babies and created them out of clay before painting them some fantastic colours.

They have built on their learning from their College Lake trip, thinking about what things their Bog Babies need to survive. Apparently, Anna found hers at the swimming pool, Phoebe's like to eat chicken nuggets and chips and Alex's makes chicken noises!

The children have been so creative and the Bog Babies are each so individual.

    Some brilliant Bog Babies!
